Why Explore Japan by Train?

Vast and magnificent, Japan is one of those countries that you want to go back to again and again. Clearly, anyone who wants to see as much as possible tries to fit as many travel destinations in the holiday program as possible without breaking the rules of the space-time continuum. Which, in turn, aggravates the question of finding the smartest connections for your trip. And there is no better go than a comfortable train ride!

Japan rail network is famous all around the world as one of the most advanced. But you have to agree - no matter how advanced any train system is - it can't be very useful for a traveler if it serves only a limited area. Luckily, Japanese railroads can get you practically anywhere in the country, from major cities, like Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Osaka, to remotely located Wakkanai and Miyazaki. And the best part is that Japanese bullet trains can travel with astonishing speed, leaving you plenty of time to explore the area and properly enjoy your adventure!

Did you know?

In Japan you can find the longest train bridge on the planet, the striking Seto Ohashi Bridge. If you want to enjoy a ride along this human-made wonder, you need to take a train going from Honshu to Shikoku.
For example, a Nozomi train can cover the distance between Tokyo and Hiroshima of 816 km (about 507 mi) in less than 4 hours. Now let's take a railway route from Paris to Munich, the cities are located about the same distance from each other (844 km/524 mi to be precise). A high-speed train can take you between the cities in almost 6 hours, making Nozomi's travel time of about 3 hours 50 minutes even more impressive in comparison.

As you can see, there is no better way to get around Japan than Shinkansen trains. They are fast, can conveniently take you from one city center to another, and offer very broad departure schedule. Below, you can read a bit more about popular train routes in Japan.
